Introduced to the motoring press yesterday and slated for general public roll out today, Suzuki’s all-new third generation Celerio hatchback sees the small-car big-brand doubling down on what is now their main city-car bet. The new Celerio model is larger than its predecessor in all aspects, even up-sizing its already class-leading cargo space from 254 liters (.254 cu.m.) to 313 liters (.313 cu.m.).
For the first time, the K10B 996cc 3-cylinder engine for both the first- and second-generation models has been updated to K10C specs with dualjet fuel injectors delivering a finer, faster burning feed mist, and a variable valve timing (VVT) valvetrain. The CVT automatic gearbox option of the previous generation has been shelved in favor of their trademark AGS automated manual transmission that’s made versatile with hill stop assist mode. The result is an apparently more efficient powertrain delivering an exceptional 28.25km/l in fuel mileage that Suzuki reports to have measured while being monitored by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
Priced significantly higher, around P150k more than its predecessor, the Celerio starts out at P708k for its manual transmission base variant and tops out at P754k for its AGS automatic. While slotted under Suzuki’s 1.2L Dzire sub-compact sedan, the Celerio is presently priced between that model’s M/T base and mid-range variants (P609k and P758k, respectively).
Press Statement by Suzuki Philippines, Inc., “Suzuki Philippines Introduces the All-New Celerio: Fill in all the best moments with Suzuki’s subcompact hatchback,” 7 May 2022:
May 7, 2022, Manila, Philippines—The Suzuki Celerio has been one of the crowd favorites due to its compact size yet spacious interior. As some would say, it’s small yet incredible. The All-New Suzuki Celerio, just like its predecessor, takes pride in having a subtle design that beams power, vitality, and exterior refinement along with a spacious interior and nimble handling which makes the driving experience worthwhile.
“The All-New Celerio has evolved into a compact car that will make people’s life easier, more convenient, and will allow to express ones personality in an age where diversity is expected’, shared Mr. Norihide Takei, Suzuki Philippines’s General Manager for Automobile. “We are confident that the new Celerio will exceed expectations of customers who seek for both practicality and individuality.”
Dynamic and vibrant exterior
The All-New Celerio showcases three-dimensionally curved surface with a “liquid expression” resembling a water surface, deviating from its previous boxy-type body. Together with the rear combination lamps placed on the shoulder lines, the flared rear fenders emphasize wideness and stability. The car also flaunts 15-inch black alloy wheels, which are an inch larger than the previous model.
Stylish, spacious and convenient interior
The eye-catching exterior is just the start as this hatchback also exudes an invigorating vibe with its instrument panel features that include uniquely designed vent grilles at the center and sides. For a more pleasant driving experience, it is equipped with a 6.2-inch Touchscreen Audio Unit with a clear and responsive anti-Glare Touch screen, Weblink 2.0, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and audio controls on steering wheels which ensure convenience while driving.
Just like its previous generation model, the new Celerio offers a lot of room inside, both for the passengers and luggage. The car provides a 295-liter luggage capacity with a 60:40 split folding rear seats to produce more space for storing bigger items.
Fuel efficient yet powerful performance
Under its hood is a 1.0-litre K10C DUALJET engine which produces 67 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. The 1.0L DUALJET engine delivers comprehensive advantages in thermal efficiency resulting from a better compression ratio, dual injection system and friction reduction, realising a high-level of balanced dynamic performance and efficiency. To back it up, the All-New Celerio achieved a 28.25 km/L fuel efficiency rating as observed by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).
This fuel-efficient hatchback comes in 5-Speed manual transmission and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) which is an automated manual transmission featuring Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operated the shift and clutch to bring convenience to manual driving.
Engine auto stop start system (EASS)
Apart from the AGS transmission, one of the most notable and new features of the All -New Celerio is the Engine Auto Stop Start System (EASS). This unique feature shuts off the engine when the vehicle is in idle and meets certain conditions to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption and help limit exhaust emissions and engine noise.
High quality safety features
For the owner’s sense of security, the new Suzuki hatchback has a number of advanced safety features. The body design centers on Suzuki’s TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) concept, resulting in a structure that efficiently absorbs and disperses the energy in the event of collision. It comes with Anti- Lock brake system (ABS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to help the driver stay in directional control during sharp turns and wheel slippage.
In addition to these safety features, the All-New Celerio also has Dual Airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, rear parking sensors and Hill-Hold Control to keep the vehicle from rolling backwards on steep slopes. All these features are engineered to embrace all types of journeys with no worries.
The All-New Celerio is available in Arctic White, Glistening Gray, Fire Red, and Speedy Blue Metallic that are all set to make a mark in the subcompact hatchback segment.
Chic and packed with incredible features, the All-New Suzuki Celerio’s price starts at Php 708,000 and will be available at Suzuki Philippines’ 73 auto dealerships nationwide. Don’t let your practicality hinder your individuality because you can live big with All-New Suzuki Celerio!
Major automotive aftermarket vendor BSB Junrose, marketer of Euro-sourced Valeo brand windshield wipers, offers advise and pointers on the upkeep and routine replacement of these often overlooked (pun intended) auto-parts.
Press Statement by BSB Junrose, “When Do You Need to Change Your Car Windshield Wipers? Ensure your overall driving safety by making sure your car wipers are always in the best condition.” 11 March 2022:
(Manila, Philippines) – Your car’s windshield wipers are very important as they serve as your first line of defense when driving under torrential rains. The wipers also instantly get rid of small debris that block your view when driving under any weather condition. Because road accidents usually happen due to poor driving visibility, windshield wipers are considered most vital for safe driving, along with lights.
However, proper maintenance of windshield wipers is often overlooked. Fortunately, wiper blades can easily be replaced by any DIY motorist and doing so may not be costly at all. Still, every car owner should observe ways to properly take care of wiper blades.
Taking care of wiper blades
When having your car washed, don’t overlook cleaning the windshield wiper blades as dirt stuck on those could cause trouble when you use the wipers. You may use soft cloth to wipe clean the wiper blades to avoid any possible problem.
Inspect your windshield wipers and their blades as frequently as you possibly can. Look out for several potential issues when doing so. Those include metal corrosion, a broken frame, or any visible damage appearing in the rubber part. When any or all of these are observed, get ready to replace the blades.
When is the time to replace?
In general, it is advisable to replace your car’s wiper blades yearly or when there is a noticeable difference in their performance. If you often take out-of-town vacation or business trips (whatever the season), it is a must to include inspecting your windshield wipers to make sure those remain in ideal condition for the long drive. Don’t hesitate to make a replacement when you see smears, skips, or streaks when you use your windshield wipers and when those affect your driving visibility. Unlikely noise created by the wipers can also indicate a need for replacement.
Another advisable time is before the onset of the rainy season, which usually starts by the end of May each year. This is to make sure the windshield wipers are always in reliable and best condition especially during stormy or rainy days—a necessity for your overall driving safety.
Is your car often exposed to harsh sunlight? Do you park your vehicle in an open-space parking lot all day, every day? Your car’s wiper blades could easily dry out, which may affect their effectiveness and flexibility. This is also the reason why in countries like the Philippines, experts advise that wiper blades be replaced more frequently.
If you properly maintain your car windshield wipers and you are still dissatisfied with their performance, you could consider other brands that offer superior wiper performance.
Trust only the best
One of the best brands to consider in the market is Valeo, a European tech and automotive parts company. It offers automotive wiper systems that include a complete range of windshield wipers. Commerce has taken shape through investments and establishments such as oil companies’ factories, bottling plants, steel fabricators, business processing outsourcing hubs, PEZA-registered IT parks and centers, and domestic and international airports.
