Chevron named among Asia’s top employers by tandem wins

Chevron, the name behind Caltex lubricants, fuel products and filling stations, has been recognized twice as top-notch employer for 2020. Their recognition as one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia” for 2020 by HR Asia last December has been seconded by them receiving the “Best Employer Brand” title at the 15th Employer Branding Awards ceremony last week.

Press Statement by Chevron Holdings, Inc. (CHI), “Chevron recognized among Asia’s best employers with double wins,” 2021:

Chevron Holdings Inc. employees remain at the heart of the company’s success.

Manila, Philippines, February 19, 2021– Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI) recently hauled two employer of choice awards from prestigious international award-giving bodies in recognition of its exemplary employment practices and workplace culture that prevail even amid unprecedented times.

CHI was named one of the ‘Best Companies to Work For in Asia 2020’ by HR Asia, Asia’s most authoritative publication for human resource (HR) professionals. The publication lauded the company for raising the bar for employee engagement and workplace excellence in the region.

“Receiving this award even in the midst of these difficult, uncertain times is immensely meaningful. It is a validation of our emphasis on employee safety and well-being, and on diversity and inclusion as the centerpieces of our culture. It inspires us to continue the Chevron Way and to be agile in responding to changing times,” CHI General Manager Steven James Callaghan said.

Out of the 150 companies shortlisted for the award, only 21 emerged as winners. The awardees were selected based on the strict judging criteria by a panel of judges and on a survey conducted among employees across Asia using the publication’s proprietary Total Engagement Assessment Model. The winners were announced during the virtual awarding ceremony held on December 31, 2020.

“We are happy to have won the ‘Best Companies to Work For in Asia 2020’ award. This merit is a testament to CHI’s responsible corporate leadership and effective people strategy that endure even amid these trying times. As we all move forward, we will continue to promote a culture where everyone thrives,” Michelle Green, Director for HR Operations at Chevron Corporation, shared.

Covering 300,000 employees across 11 markets in Asia, HR Asia’s Best Companies to Work For in Asia Awards is the largest annual program in the region that recognizes companies that foster excellent workplace culture and invest in employee development.

Aside from the HR Asia award, CHI also copped the highly coveted Global Best Employer Brand Award at the 15th Employer Branding Awards ceremony held on February 16, 2021.

The award is given by the Employer Branding Institute to companies that have utilized HR strategies in managing their employees and advancing their professional growth. The winners were assessed and judged based on the ability to translate vision into action for HR strategy, cultivation of competencies to build a future-ready organization, fostering an inclusive company culture, and ensuring effective employee engagement.

Employer Branding Institute is a virtual global organization comprised of senior HR leaders from over 36 countries, recognized for their contributions to employer branding and talent management practices.

“We are truly honored to be recognized by HR Asia and the Employer Branding Institute as one of the region’s top employers. These awards are a reflection of CHI’s long-established belief in the power of human ingenuity. We dedicate these to our employees who help make our business viable, “Callaghan added.

In the previous years, CHI bagged the Wellness Company of the Year at the Asia CEO Forum in 2018 for its notable health and productivity programs for its employees. In 2019, CHI was also recognized by the same award-giving body as one of the Circle of Excellence awardees of the Kalibrr Top Employer of the Year Award.

Composed of nearly 1,600 employees, CHI offers its employees development opportunities on top of its competitive compensation and benefits. Upholding its operational tenet “Do it safely or not at all,” CHI ensures the health and safety of its employees and communities where it operates through opening a company clinic and providing full-scale training programs for office safety and wellness programs for its employees. It also offers volunteering opportunities and programs promoting diversity and inclusion.

In response to the health crisis, CHI immediately shifted to work-from-home arrangements. Financial assistance and health consultations are also continuously provided to help them pull through the pandemic.

To also propel the country’s recovery, CHI, together with Chevron Philippines Inc., donated funds to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation Inc. last year to provide medical supplies for healthcare workers. Last December, CHI also donated funds to help rehabilitate the communities affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.

Isuzu finishes 2020 as 21st year in top spot and with more balanced sales mix

Despite upheavals in 2020 that had shrunk the truck market to less than 60 percent of what it was the previous year, Isuzu still made it their 21st year as the top selling truck brand in the country, as well as the year they reached the 300,000 milestone for total number of vehicles sold since they started operations in 1997. And, with 2020 seeing continued growth in medium-duty truck sales from a 9 percent share in total market volume in 2017 to a 34 percent or one-third share in 2020, Isuzu’s numbers have kept pace with the trend, balancing their sales mix in the process. Behind a 38 percent market share in medium-duty trucks, Isuzu’s 1,064 units of medium F-series trucks sold in 2020 also represent a 29 percent share in their own total sales volume that’s significantly increased from 25 percent in 2019 and a mere 5 percent share in 2017.

Press Statement by Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) “Isuzu PH leads all truck sales categories in 2020; extends Number 1 streak to 21 years,” 2021:

The year 2020, difficult as it may have been across the entire automotive industry, did bring a silver lining for Isuzu Philippines Corporation.

IPC, the exclusive assembler, importer, and distributor of brand-new Isuzu commercial vehicles (CVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in the country, has once again come out on top in the joint sales report of the Truck Manufacturers Association Inc. (TMA) and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (CAMPI) covering the period from January to December 2020.

The report showed that IPC sold 2,322 units of its N-Series light duty trucks, cornering the top spot in Category III with a 53% market share. It also led Category IV by selling 1,064 units of its F-Series medium-duty trucks, for a 38% share. It was no different in Category V, where the C&E-Series heavy-duty trucks lorded over the competition by selling 320 units for a 35% share. Combined, IPC’s overall commercial vehicle (CV) sales in Categories III, IV and V accounted for 3,707 units, or 45.2% of the market share.

For its 2020 sales performance where it swept all truck sales categories, IPC has now become the Philippines Number 1 truck brand for 21 consecutive years and Number 1 in Light-Duty truck sales for 22 consecutive years.

IPC also showed fast sales recovery on the 2nd half of 2020, which can be attributed to the consistent demand on trucks, brought about by the increase on logistics delivery service and essential goods delivery, especially in areas with travel restrictions.

One result of this, is the outstanding performance of the Isuzu Traviz under the Category II Cab & Chassis segment, selling a total of 2,503 units, capturing 20% share on its first year in the market.

IPC leadership in the truck market is commanded by its strong brand reputation of providing durable and reliable products. On top of this, IPC strives to provide the best ‘customer solution’, fitted to their needs – analyzing their business processes and requirements prior to recommending the best truck.

By being the ‘responsible partner’, IPC does not just supply world-class vehicles and treat our customers as mere clients, we treat them as partners. Their growth is essential to IPC’s growth, hence, we provide total support to our customers nationwide with great products and aftersales support,” said IPC President, Hajime Koso.

On the other hand, Isuzu’s best-selling pick-up, the D-MAX, and the mu-X SUV, has also produced healthy sales numbers, with the D-MAX selling 3,346 units—a 12% increase from 2019 sales, while the mu-X sells a robust 1,681 units.

For 2021, the brand is optimistic with its current line-up for vehicles and upcoming vehicles to be released to the market. “We are confident on our truck line-up, but as the demand changes and increase, IPC evolves and is ready to introduce new products that the Philippine market will love. Hopefully, these products will help boost our economy this years,” Koso added.

On the same day, IPC showed its continuous support to LTAI by donating one unit of Isuzu PUV, to help augment the association’s daily operations shuttling its park employees and tenants.

In his speech, Koso lauded LTAI for its deep and genuine concern for its people, especially in the midst of a raging pandemic. “Times like these are indeed difficult as the crisis stretches on. Isuzu Philippines delivers 25 Traviz barangay emergency response vehicles to Tiaong, Quezon

Isuzu Philippines delivered 25 Traviz lightweight trucks to the municipality of Tiaong in Quezon Province last week. The units are to be deployed as barangay-based ambulances and are fitted out with utility van (UV) rear bodies configured for emergency response roles with single-side foldaway benches and rear AC extended ducting.

Press Statement by Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC), ” Isuzu PH turns over 25 Traviz units to Tiaong LGU,” 2021:

The progressive municipality of Tiaong in Quezon Province will be seeing a fleet of Isuzu Traviz light duty trucks performing efficient and effective multi-purpose duties for its citizens.

In a simple turn over ceremony held last January 11, Isuzu Philippines Corporation turned over 25 units of its lightweight truck, Traviz, fitted with emergency response-type utility van body to local officials of Tiaong at the municipal grounds.

IPC executives, led by Sales Division Head Joseph Bautista, Dealer Sales Department Head Mario Ojales, and Dealer Sales Section Head Danny Nunez, along with officers of the facilitating dealership Isuzu Pagbilao, namely its President and General Manager Marcel B. Tolentino, Sales Director Marcel Joseph A. Tolentino, and Truck Elite Sales Executive Rolan Isaac Torres, were on hand to turn over the Traviz units to Tiaong officials led by Mayor Ramon Preza, Vice Mayor William Razon, and Councilor JP Preza. With 25 barangay captains of the municipality, to whom each unit will be assigned, were also present to witness the event.

In his special message, Bautista reiterated that, through the Traviz, IPC continues its strong partnership with various sectors of Philippine society, especially in public service, in order to fulfill its commitment to be “Your Responsible Partner”.

“We are confident that these Isuzu Traviz lightweight trucks will perform even beyond expectations for the different barangays here in Tiaong, and you can count on its durability and reliability that your municipality made a very wise investment in purchasing these Isuzu trucks—because an Isuzu truck really goes a long way,” he said.

The Isuzu Traviz is powered by the Euro 4-rated 4JA1 2.5-liter Direct Injection Common Rail Blue Power diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, and is rated to carry up to 1.6 tons of payload, the heaviest in the lightweight truck category. This makes it ideal for the Traviz to offer numerous advantages, such as interior cab spaciousness with wider cabins and better legroom, and a more ergonomic and comfortable—thus safer—driving position. Better maneuverability and the short turning radius of 4.5 meters make the Traviz ideal for multi-purpose trips in various barangays.

Apart from these features, two other key factors that made the Tiaong local government decide to purchase the Traviz were Isuzu Philippines’ commitment to comprehensive aftersales and nationwide parts availability, and their long-standing relationship with Isuzu Pagbilao who has been consistently assisting the municipality in its transportation needs.

November and December’s 11 new Caltex stations bring 2020’s total to 30 new stations, set stage for 2021 growth

Chevron Philippines opened 30 new Caltex filling stations last year, finishing with 11 stations spread out through Luzon, the Visayas and Mindano in the last two months of 2020. These openings bring the Caltex network to almost 650 filling stations nationwide, stations they expect to keep adding to this year.

Press Statement by Chevron Philippines, Inc. (CPI), “Caltex surges with 11 new stations in last two months to start strong in 2021,” 2021:

Manila, Philippines–Clean and high-quality fuels are now made available in more provinces as Caltex, marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), recently opened new service stations in Pampanga, Pangasinan, Bataan, Batangas, Cebu, and Bukidnon in support of the reopening of the economy. This brings the total number of newly-opened Caltex stations in 2020 to 30.

Caltex presently has a growing retail structure composed of nearly 650 retail stations across the archipelago, a figure that is expected to climb as Caltex opens more stations this year. This is a testament to the success of its retailer-owned retailer-operated business model.

CPI recently opened a Caltex service station in the municipality of Guagua, Pampanga. Situated along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Barangay San Antonio, this 12-pump fueling station is now ready to supply fuel for motorists traveling in the area and to support the transport of forestry and fishery resources, such as rice, corn, and tilapia, which are staples in the province.

Another Caltex service station stands in the highly urbanized Olongapo City. Located along the busy stretch of Rizal Avenue, this service station now serves the fuel needs of residents in Barangay West Bajac-Bajac and its neighboring districts.

The newly-established service station in Barangay Culis, Hermosa, Bataan also serves as a vital pit stop for private and commercial vehicles traversing the Roman Highway, which is a national arterial road that straddles 10 Bataan towns.

A new 18-pump Caltex fueling site also opened in Inosluban, Lipa City, Batangas and is now ready to cater to its residents and tourists. Aside from being once known as the coffee center of the world, Lipa City is also dubbed as the “Little Rome of the Philippines” for being home to many Catholic churches.

In Visayas, another Caltex station rose in San Fernando, a coastal municipality of Cebu. The area is part of Metro Cebu, which encompasses the largest domestic port in the Philippines. The fuel station’s presence in the area provides a reliable source of power for the engines of shipping and logistics vehicles operating around Metro Cebu.

Down south, two Caltex stations opened along the National Highway in Bukidnon, ensuring an uninterrupted journey for motorists in the area. The stations are located in the landlocked areas of Barangay Aglayan, Malaybalay City and Barangay Kisolon, Sumilao. Bukidnon is regarded as the “Food Basket of Mindanao” as it is a major producer of rice, corn, and sugarcane.

All Caltex stations carry the premium Euro 4 compliant fuel Caltex with Techron, which guarantees maximized vehicle performance, enhanced engine protection, and lower emissions. Aside from providing clean and quality fuels, Caltex also maintains strict safety protocols and offer contactless payment methods for safer travels.

“To match the Filipinos’ increasing demand for better fuel, while catering to key industries that are gradually reopening, we seek to sustain the upward trend of our retail network growth this year and onwards. We are constantly expanding our brick-and-mortar network to power a worthwhile journey for our customers wherever they are,” said CPI Country Chairman and General Manager Billy Liu.

The opening of more Caltex stations will help the local fuel industry meet the increasing demand stiffened by the country’s improving economy. According to the Asian Development Outlook 2020 Update, the Philippines’ Gross Domestic Product is forecast to grow by 6.5% in 2021.1

Caltex’s launch of new service stations and quality fuel products, partnerships, and latest promotions allow it to kick-start 2021 stronger and more equipped to serve the country’s fuel needs.

Motorists can find the nearest Caltex station in their area at www.caltex.com/ph/find-a-caltex-station.
