AION Y crossover EVs seen being delivered in Makati

Spotted in advance of any official announcement in the country, newly arrived AION Y electric compact crossovers were seen being offloaded from a carrier on a late night delivery in Makati this week. The unheralded arrival  sparks speculation about AION Y’s imminent launch in this market.

Rolling off assembly lines in Guangzhou, China and in Rayong, Thailand, the AION Y was first launched globally in Novemner 2020.  The five-seat, front-motor and front-drive compact crossover SUV mounts a permanent-magnet synchronous motor putting out an impressive 225Nm and 134hp running off a 63.2kWh battery spec’d out for a driving range of 460 to 490km.

Car brand AION is part of the GAC Group in China, that parent organization’s bigger name having already established a significant foothold in the Philippines with their big-boned and fine-trimmed passenger car and sport utility models.
